Your privacy and data security are a priority at SouqView. We are committed to protecting your personal information.
SouqView is owned and operated by MASA 71 SPC LLC. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use and store it, who we share it with, and your rights under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL). By using SouqView, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the app.
1. What we collect
- Name - the name on your profile. It shows on leaderboards and in competitions you join (section 5).
- Email address - required to create your account and send important updates.
- Username (@handle) - if you post in the community.
- University and campus - if you enter a university or class code.
- Country - to verify eligibility and jurisdiction.
- Posts, replies and survey answers - what you write in the community, and your answers to a class or challenge survey.
- Consultation bookings - the session you book and the details you give for it.
- Payment details - handled by the app store and our payment processor. We never see or store your card details on our servers.
- Your practice portfolio and any competition portfolios: what you hold, your simulated trades and how the value changes.
- Your learning: lessons, scores, streaks, level, objectives and your oasis.
- The competitions, classes and challenges you join, and your rank and score in them.
- Login times and session length.
- Which features and charts you use.
- Network data such as IP address, device type and OS, for security and performance.
- A notification token for your device, if you allow notifications, so we can send them.
- Crash and error reports, so we can fix what breaks.
- Your device's advertising identifier, if you allow it, to measure which ad brought you to SouqView.
2. How we use your data
We use your information to provide a secure, personalized experience:
- Manage your subscription and Pro features.
- Tailor insights and the interface to your level and interests.
- Run competitions, classes and challenges: rank players, show leaderboards, and let organisers check who is taking part and award prizes (section 5).
- Monitor for fraud and misuse, and keep your account secure.
- Improve the app and its tools.
- Communicate with you for support and important updates.
3. Service providers
Running SouqView takes a handful of specialist providers. We use them only to operate the app, they act on our instructions, and they may not use your data for their own purposes:
- Cloud infrastructure, database hosting and account authentication.
- Subscription management and payment processing.
- Transactional email delivery.
- Push notification delivery, through Apple and Google.
- Product analytics (PostHog), to see which features are used, and crash reporting (Sentry), to find and fix errors.
- Ad measurement (Singular). When you install SouqView from one of our ads, it tells that ad network, such as Reddit, that the ad led to an install or a sign-up, so we only keep paying for ads that work. On iPhone it uses your advertising identifier only if you allow tracking when the app asks. On Android you can reset or delete it in your phone's settings.
- AI providers that power the in-app assistant. Only your message and the stock symbols it refers to are sent, never your account details.
Some of these providers process data outside the UAE. We use them only under the conditions the PDPL sets for cross-border transfers.
4. The AI assistant
When you use the in-app AI assistant:
- What is sent: your chat messages, referenced stock symbols and the analysis mode you choose.
- What is not sent: your email, name, payment details or other personal account data.
- How it is used: only to answer your query. We do not use your chats to train AI models.
- Consent: the app asks for your explicit consent before any data is sent to these services.
5. Competitions, classes and challenges
When you join a competition, a class or a challenge, your profile and your activity in it are shared with whoever runs it, with SouqView and with the other players. This is part of taking part: there is no setting to hide it, and the app tells you before you join.
The organiser. A competition is run by SouqView, by a professor or university, or by a partner organisation such as a bank or a company. The organiser sees, for each person in it: your name, email address, university, when you joined, your rank and score, your competition portfolio with what you hold and your trades, your lessons, streak and level, and when you were last active. They can download this as a list. They use this to run the competition, to check who is taking part, and to award and deliver prizes. Every time an organiser opens a person's full report, it is recorded in a log they cannot edit.
Other players. Everyone in the same competition sees your name, your rank, your score and your return. A challenge listed in Discover is open to anyone in the app, so its leaderboard is seen by everyone who joins it. Your top three holdings are shown to other players only if you turn that on.
SouqView. SouqView sees everything above, to run competitions, check results and investigate misuse.
Surveys. Answers to a class or challenge survey are anonymous. Organisers see totals only once at least five people have answered, and never who answered what.
Leaving. If you leave a competition or delete your account, you come off its leaderboard and its organiser's list from then on. A leaderboard an organiser has already downloaded stays with them.
6. Who else can see your account
Outside the competitions you join, three kinds of people can, in narrowing order.
SouqView's founder. Can open any account's practice and competition portfolios and their simulated trade history, to answer a support question, investigate a fault or misuse, or produce a learning report. This is the account that runs the service.
Faculty at your university. If you entered a university code or joined a class, faculty at that university can see your progress and performance, including what you hold and your recent trades. Every time one of them opens a named student, it is recorded in a log neither they nor SouqView staff can edit.
A consultant, only for a session you shared it with. When you book a consultation you may tick to show that consultant your practice portfolio. If you do not tick it, they see nothing. If you do, they see what you hold and what it is worth, never your simulated trade history and never your name beyond the booking. Access opens a day before the session and closes a day after it, whatever else happens, and you can stop it at any moment from My bookings. Every time they open it we record it, and you are shown that it happened.
None of these people see real money, because there is none: everything in a SouqView portfolio is simulated. And none of them can change anything in your account.
7. The community
What you post in the community, your replies and likes, and your username are visible to other SouqView users. Do not post anything you would not want others to read.
8. Email we send you
An email address you give us anywhere in the app, including the address you type when booking a consultation, may be used to send you SouqView's periodic market notes as well as the messages about the thing you actually did.
Every one of those notes carries an unsubscribe link, and one click stops them for good. Receipts do not: a booking confirmation, a meeting link or a session reminder is a record of something you did, and it keeps arriving as long as you have a session booked. If you were given a link by somebody who booked on your behalf and you would rather hear nothing further, the unsubscribe link works for you too.
9. Sharing your practice activity
We share your practice activity with third parties, and having a SouqView account means agreeing to that.
Those third parties are brokerages, market makers, exchanges and research firms, who receive the data through an API. We tell you this plainly because it is the one place where information about you leaves SouqView for someone else's benefit without your name on it, and you should know that before you sign up rather than after.
- Your simulated trades: what, when, how much, and at what simulated price.
- The positions in your practice portfolio and how they change over time.
- Which symbols, sectors and markets you look at, and how long you spend doing it.
- A random identifier, so one anonymous account can be followed over time without being named.
- Your name, email address, phone number or country.
- Your IP address, device identifiers, or anything that could be used to contact you.
- Any real-money or banking information. SouqView holds none, since all trading in the app is simulated.
What recipients may not do. Every recipient is contractually barred from attempting to re-identify you, from selling the data onward, and from using it beyond the purpose we agreed. Where a recipient is outside the UAE, we transfer only under the conditions the PDPL allows for cross-border transfer, and the same limits apply wherever they are.
If you want it to stop. Deleting your account, as described below, ends all further sharing. Data already sent cannot be pulled back out of a recipient's systems, which is why the contractual limits carry the weight once it has gone.
10. If you use the SouqView API
If you subscribe to the SouqView market data API, we also keep your billing details at Stripe (we never see your full card number), your API keys as one-way hashes that cannot be turned back into the key, how many requests each key makes, and which companies you request history or financials for each day.
We record the IP addresses your API keys are used from, to protect your account against shared or leaked keys and to prevent misuse of the data. We keep them for 90 days and then delete them.
The history and financial data we supply carries marks that identify your account, so that copies made against our API terms can be traced. The marks do not change any value at the precision exchanges quote.
11. Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while your account is open. You can delete your account from Settings in the app, or by emailing founder@masa71.ae. We process a deletion within 30 days, except for anything the law requires us to keep for longer.
12. Your rights
Under the PDPL you can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy.
- Correct data that is wrong or incomplete.
- Delete your data, as in section 10.
- Restrict or stop a use of your data, or withdraw a consent you gave, such as for the AI assistant or ad tracking. Withdrawing does not undo what was done before.
Email founder@masa71.ae and we will answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the UAE Data Office.
13. Policy updates
We may update this policy to reflect changes in law (such as updates to the UAE PDPL) or our services. We will tell you about significant changes by email or in-app notice. Continuing to use SouqView after an update means you accept the revised policy.
